Boxer J Adams of Ushaw Moor

An interesting name has cropped up on a very good boxing site -www.prewarboxing.co.uk that might bring memories for some family. The boxer in question is a J Adams from Ushaw Moor who is recorded as having three professional fights in the 1920s. The Internet site owner does not give his own name in his site's home section but provides  e-mail facilities. He clearly knows a lot about boxing. For a reasonable fee he can probably research or supply further information if Mr Adams is relevant to you.

If you have difficulty in finding the site make a comment on Paul's and I will help you further.

1 - Paul is very busy just at the moment so for now, rather than submit a fresh aricle, I have used this latest one about boxing as a vehicle to pose some fresh and unconnected Ushaw Moor questions, as follows:
1]Has anyone heard from Geoff Turner? He submitted some very good stuff some months back but I have seen nothing since. Is this likeable gentleman ok?

2]Has anyone got a copy of the football picture portraying Ushaw Moor Modern senior [not intermediate] team in the year 1959/60. I do recall seeing it years ago. I managed to get a picture of the 1958/9 Ushaw Moor County team to David Maddox via this site and can only hope that someone can do something similiar regarding the 1959/60 team for me. Never mind if you can't - it is not the end of the world!

2 - I have discovered another Ushaw Moor connection to pre-war professional boxing and it is from the same site. The boxer is Jimmy Jones from Ushaw Moor; he is recorded as having seven bouts. He is described as being an active boxer in the 1920s. Again, if he is an ancestor of yours, consider contacting the site to see if you can get more details. (Comment this)

3 - I have discovered a new boxing site that gives access to the boxing records of seven Ushaw Moor boxers, one Broompark boxer and five Esh Winning boxers. Because of terms of use I am not permitted to publish the records directly on to this site but you can access them on www.britishboxing.net.Once into the site use its search button and feed in e.g. Ushaw Moor -England - all boxers. Then move on to Esh Winning etc etc. By doing that you get their career records [all of which seem rather short]. (Comment this)
