Club Committee / Ushaw Colliery Band

Photo of Ushaw Moor WM Club Officials and staff showing , Alf's dad, Jimmy, third from the right on the front row.He was the club secretary.My dad ,Buller Graham,is on the extreme right of the second row.I recognise others but can only name Jack Rowe who is on the extreme left of the second row.

Durham miners' gala showing Ushaw Colliery band and supporters.The ones I recognise are Alf's dad and mother,Eva, my Aunt Dolly(Doris Bowery),Dennis Dickinson, Dennis Gillon and I think Alan Seed-it could be 1954 or 1955-visitors to the site will have fun recognising other people.

1 - Thanks for the photo. Dennis Dickinson was my dad and he passed away earlier this year. I spooted him in the photo straight away. Photo date may have been slightly earlier as he was born in 1935 and still looks quite young in the picture. Once again thanks

4 - I recognised Brian Finnigan, Ediie Kielty, Percy Turnbull who was our next door neighbour in Victoria Court, Jimmy Gillon, Mr Connolly and Tom Dickinson who was a close friend. Tom looks about 14 years old and that would make the year about 1951 or 1952. I could not spot Dennis Dickinson who was also a close friend of our family. This is a terific photo ans I will study it later to see if I can recall any more names. Brian Mc Loughlin (Comment this)

5 - I have studied the photo again and I recognise a lot of faces but I cannot bring names to mind. However the man with the trilby and the buttonhole in the centre of the photo looks like John Quinn. John spent the war in the RAF and was posted as missing over Italy. I knew his Mam nad Dad as Aunty Molly and Uncle Jack.. At this time they lived at the top of Arthur Street and later moved to Flass Avenue. (Comment this)

7 - Regarding the club committee, I think I can recognise;Eb Shuker,Jimmy Gillon,Mr & Mrs Moralee ( Club Stewards)My father Jimmy Rothwell, Matt Strong,Jack Rowe,Mr Stobbart, Gadgy Hope,my uncle Buller Graham,Mr Appleby,Mr Gargett,Jack Moralee,Amos Thompson and Alma Middleton. 8 - Is Doris Bowery the mother of Pat Bowery who was in our school class in 1959 and subsequently went to live in Australia?

I am sure Doris Bowery married one of the Dixons lads from the Colege Farm. Doris had a brother named Ronnie and I think another brother named Jimmy. (Comment this)
